Welham Girls' School - Junior Hostel
DEHRADUN
The existing Junior Girls Hostel was made in different phases and in need of an urgent makeover. The School needed to update the facilities according to the batch size and the five houses of the school that were to be accommodated.
Light, ventilation, security, and safety were the new standards to be maintained. Redesigning the existing block with a mix of new, old, retrofitted areas was an engineering and spatial puzzle.
Extensive use of stone cladding and exposed brickwork has been done with different layering patterns developed in the brickwork. The facade is approx 290 feet long but has been designed with multi-level surfaces to create a play of shadow and light.
